Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a Chicago-based healthcare startup on a remote basis. This team is dedicated to revolutionizing the way medical professionals access and manage patient data. The mission is to empower healthcare providers with cutting-edge technology solutions that streamline workflows, improve patient outcomes, and enhance overall efficiency in the healthcare industry.
In this opportunity, you’ll be the first technical hire to stand up the application from the ground up. A successful candidate will be able to consult their team on architecture, tooling, and road mapping to help deliver their proof of concept. As our first engineering hire, you will play a critical role in architecting and building a scalable and robust platform that leverages OCR (Optical Character Recognition), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and machine learning technologies to digitize and analyze medical documents.
Contract Duration: 6 – 12 Months Required Skills Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on building scalable web applications and SaaS platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python as well as experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with OCR libraries (e.g., Tesseract), AI frameworks, and machine learning techniques (e.g., natural language processing, computer vision).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
Desired Skills Experience
  • Design, develop, and deploy a cloud-based SaaS platform for healthcare providers, utilizing OCR, AI, and machine learning tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and data science, to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Implement advanced algorithms and models to extract, analyze, and interpret medical data from various sources, including scanned documents, images, and electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and performance of the platform, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA compliance).
  • Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team.Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, DICOM) and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to consolidate and integrate data from multiple sources into our Snowflake data warehouse.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data warehousing, analytics, and data science.
