Job Details
Automation and Process Improvement: Develop methods and practices to enhance product quality, expand the product mix, and reduce manufacturing costs through specialized application of automation technology.
Project Management: Design, develop, and manage process-related projects with the aim of reducing production cost, improving yields, and ensuring better product quality.
Industrial Control Expertise: Maintain control models related to precision closed-loop industrial control, providing expert advice and support to Maintenance and Operating groups.
Functional Area Expertise: Offer expertise in specific functional areas, including Reheat Furnace control, Steckel Mill control, and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with established specifications and standards.
Facility Equipment Planning: Plan and coordinate activities related to the concept, final design, bidding, bid evaluation, and maintenance of facility equipment.
Qualifications – Education and Experience:
Programming Experience: Minimum of 5 years programming industrial process control systems.
Engineering Judgment: Exercise sound engineering and economic judgment with a focus on the physical and economic impact on plant operations.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Fortran and C, C++, C# or Vb.net programming languages, comprehensive knowledge of steel rolling and related processes.
Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with project management experience.
Technical Preferences: Experience with DEC VMS or Open VMS operating systems, DEC Alpha processors, DEC UNIX operating systems, Ethernet and ARCNET real-time communications systems, Siemens or Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers, and database management (MS SQL or Oracle).
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related scientific field.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Partially sedentary office environment with occasional handling of materials.
Occasional work in the industrial environment with exposure to heat/cold, climbing stairs/ladders, and wearing safety equipment.
Position Type - Work Hours - Travel Requirements:
Full-time, exempt position.
Eight (8) hour day shift, Monday through Friday, with additional overtime as needed.
Expected travel comprises less than 5% of work hours.
