Job Title/Role : Contract Specialist

Location : Remote

Experience Level Required : Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in direct IT purchasing and IT contracting activities, including experience as a primary negotiator, and a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience (preferably 5 years).

Mandatory Required Skills : Advance skill level in Word and Excel, experience using Microsoft Office and Purchasing Software, excellent organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent vendor management and problem resolution skills, excellent contract revising/drafting and negotiating skills.

Job Description :

We are seeking a Contract Specialist to join our team in a remote role. As a Contract Specialist, you will play a vital role in managing IT and clinical contracts, ensuring compliance, and driving effective negotiation processes. If you have over a decade of experience in IT purchasing and contracting, including supervisory experience, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently coordinate and prepare complex, unique, and long-term contracts, particularly in the field of IT.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of IT contracts, from evaluation to transition and renegotiation.
  • Incorporate acquisitions and Epic Connects into existing operating agreements.
  • Negotiate, review, and draft IT-related contracts with varying complexities and risks, including terms and conditions, amendments, statements of work, software license agreements, and more, while adhering to IT, data security, and healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Advise project teams, business partners, and leadership on contract interpretation and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Administer IT-related contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Determine and analyze contract requirements, recommend revisions, develop contracting strategies, and complete procurement planning.
  • Coordinate with clinical and IT technical experts, award contracts, conduct negotiations, and resolve post-award issues.
  • Manage BAA (Business Associate Agreement), MSA (Master Service Agreement), and SOW (Statement of Work) agreements.
  • Continue responsibility for ongoing contract management, including amendments or extensions, as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Word and experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, vendor management, and problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to revise and draft contracts effectively.
  • Effective communication with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including business unit attorneys, compliance officers, and business unit representatives.
  • Ability to understand the broader context of issues during contract negotiations and strategic initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Procurement, Legal, and internal stakeholders to collect requirements, develop contract templates, and implement standards.
