Job Description

Duties

  • Designing and building solutions for ingesting, curating, and analyzing data at scale.
  • Collecting and preparing data for use by data scientists and analysts.
  • Documenting data transformation rules to meet the requirements for system interfaces and data integration projects.
  • Performing data profiling to identify quality gaps and determine if data is fit for use for its intended purpose.
  • Researching and evaluating data engineering tools and technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements including specialized experience and/or education by the closing date of the announcement.

Both the mathematical series 1529 and data science series 1560 have a basic requirement that must be met to qualify for this position.

Mathematical Statistics Series 1529:
  • Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
or Combination of education and experience
  • - at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Data Science Series 1560:
  • Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
or
  • Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
In addition to the basic requirement, your resume must show that you have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade in the federal service. Your resume must describe your experience in detail and address all elements in the following areas:
  • Experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, Luigi, Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Functions, AWS Step Functions, Metaflow, Flyte
  • Experience with one or more database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Neo4j, Couchbase, Cassandra).

Education
