Job Description

About Us

Operait Health is seeking to revolutionize how hospitals and surgeons schedule medical operations, allocating surgery rooms more efficiently through AI/ML, and accelerating care delivery to improve outcomes and meet increasing demand.

Rather than solve a complicated multi-party coordination problem (think last-minute cancellations or changes, static reservation systems, simplistic baked-in assumptions, and rigid workflows), we believe that a deep understanding of the data unlocks more dynamic and effective utilization of hospital surgical rooms, surfacing hidden capacity and boosting revenue while eliminating weeks and months of delay in providing needed care.

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Data Engineer with a strong background in Machine Learning to join our team full-time. At this stage, we are fully remote, but we are definitely interested in some level of (optional) hybrid work in the future, as well as in providing periodic opportunities to get together and collaborate in person.

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain our data pipeline architecture. The primary sources for this data are diverse external healthcare systems used by hospitals and other surgery centers, and you will be helping devise integration strategies for those. You will also be responsible for structuring our data to facilitate access and use across our systems. A critical use for this data is feeding our ML models to generate predictions, and making the prediction output available in actionable ways.

We are an early startup and this is an opportunity for you to join at ground level. You will be given a great amount of responsibility, and space to invest in yourself and to make impactful, practical decisions. Come be a part of building a best-in-class engineering team and culture, one that is strong on diversity, intellectual curiosity, honesty, reflection, partnership, collaboration, and iteration.

  • Data Engineering, Data Modeling, and ETL skills
  • Experience in data warehousing and data analytics
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, SQL, and others
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, or significant proficiency demonstrated in prior positions
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
  • Experience in start-ups is a plus
  • Experience with machine learning is a strong plus
