Web site: auto-logout: why so soon?

The system logged me out while I was working on a long-question. Is that necessary? It's not like this is a financial trading platform or anything. could you extend the timeout? Why not make it a full 24 hours, or more?

Thanks for your feedback (and sorry -- I know this is frustrating).
We will bump the session expiration up a bit, sufficient to write a long message.
The suggested 24 hours would leave us with thousands of lingering sessions which would be undesirable.
